A Good Start Today...Next Trip Friday July 19th, One Spot Open

Today we had a good start to our summer Cod season, I would rate it a solid "B". I was hoping for some bigger fish but I will take market Cod all day long. There was no "lights-out" drops...it was a grind all day long drifting at several depths covering 10 NM...so we burnt some fuel. Jigs were the ticket and anyone who even put a hint of clam on the hook got clobbered by dogs and they were ferocious beyond anything I have ever seen at this time of year. Usually long gone by the end of June, but not this year. Even though the water is very warm at 70 deg F, we are still technically one month behind in my book when reflecting on how horrible our rainy spring was. Hopefully after the upcoming full moon passes, we will get a fresh shot of green Cod coming down the 30 fathom line, populating Coxes and other deep water area's. We shall have to wait and see. So at the end of the day we boxed 20 market Cod, full boat limit of Seabass, some nice Fluke, one loner Pollack and one very nice Tog. Next trip will be this Friday so long as we have good weather...one spot open for this trip. More midweek...
