Up On The Hard.....

Its been a long couple of weeks once we finally got Codzilla pulled and set-up for a makeover. At 22,000 lbs, she is one of the heaviest 33' vessels you will find in this day and age of lighter, faster, etc., Nope....not for me, I will take the old-school heavy battleship type tub over any over-priced production line garbage offered in the current marketplace. For this reason, I will pull her out every season and spend what I must to make her safe, seaworthy and comfortable. The past few weeks we have done alot of work on the running gear including replacing the shaft log boot, repacking the stuffing boxes (stb side shaft & rudder post), replacing the exhaust clamps (both port & stb) on the transom and doing an engine alignment (nightmare). Replaced misc other thru hull fittings, all the zincs, scraped the bottom & running gear, and painted the bottom with a few nice coats of fresh blue ablative. "Mike The Buffer" did a great job bringing the hull (from waterline to rub-rail) back as much as he could....not much gelcoat left to work with but hey the boat is 47 years old!!! I figure another week or so till splash down...
