Winter Doldrums....
My apologies for not posting anything in the past few days but there's not to much to talk about other than Trump kicking-ass and taking numbers as he drains the swamp of all swamps in DC. Trump has done more this past week than the "other guy" (sorry I refuse to ever even say the SOB's name again) did in eight years...what a legacy of destruction this man and "Crooked Hillary" left behind...both should both be arrested for treason and locked-up, period, end of story. Weather

Some Good News...Finally
Well we lost out on a few trips, but the fishing was lousy for the most part the last few days and I am glad I didn't take anyone for a fish-less boat ride. I realize its called "fishing", not "catching" but I prefer "catching" and it bothers the shit out of me when its not the latter of the two. Winter Cod fishing when these fish are on the spawn is really "hit or miss" and its frustrating for a captain who takes it personally when the fish don't cooperate...you guys pay g

The Update....
"BOAT" = Bring Out Another Thousand....would hate to foot the bill to get the boat above "ship-shape".... The injector is on its way UPS Red from Trans Atlantic Diesel in VA. Bob and I will have it installed by tomorrow afternoon and will only know what the story is when we turn the key. I am hoping for the best and if everything works out like I am hoping we might have trip. More to come, standby Capt. should we will have a trip on Saturday (

Marine Fabrication & Repair...
Posting this for my "Friends That Fish" website...and anyone else who needs a custom part fabricated from scratch with no prints, no nothing...just need a broken part or something scratched out on a napkin and we can make it or fix it. FC Bob and I have many years of experience in the engine room and know our way around gas and diesel engines. We can also troubleshoot electrical problems, fix / repack stuffing boxes, repair running gear, leaks, blisters, transmission proble

Tough Weekend....
Out of the (3) trips scheduled for this past weekend, we were only able to get in the first one on Saturday...and it was a struggle all day. We sampled every tried & true drop in the book and ran all over the Ledge burning a ton of fuel but it wasn't meant to be. Marked fish in some spots stacked-up 20 feet off the bottom like chord wood - threw both clams & jigs at them but they wanted nothing to do with our offerings. Mr. Weatherman also had a tough day and blew the AM f

Tues Sold Out...Private Charter
The above pic was taken late this afternoon as Bob and I sat up at the lighthouse plotting our strategy for the upcoming trips...can't remember the last time I fished three trips in a row during the winter - unheard of for these parts w/ a small six pack boat. Well I'll take it and hope Mr. Weatherman keeps his word. Sunday morning might be a little "sporty" but other than that it looks real good. Hopefully the fishing will be equal to the bluebird weather....lots of bait

Sun & Mon Sold Out....
The above pic was taken way back in 2010 around Christmas...it was a gorgeous day to be on the water and I should have been fishing, also, notice no electronics! The boat had nothing but a compass when I first brought her up from Freeport, LI. - she was formerly known as "The Aquaholic"....funny and fitting for sure. The weather models have changed slightly but its still looking real good for Sun & Mon. Saturday looks suspect right now as they have shifted the SCA up to lat

Weekend Update....
If this forecast holds, this may be one of the nicest weekends to fish all winter. Here is the WPRI & NWS marine update as of 4:30 PM Jan 11th: SATURDAY: Partly sunny, much colder, and dry during the day… highs in the low 30s. SUNDAY: Partly sunny. Highs in the mid to upper 30s. MONDAY (Martin Luther King, Jr Day): Not as chilly. A mix of sun and clouds. Looks dry. Highs in the low 40s. The NWS updated marine forecast is a match: FRI NIGHT N WINDS 15 TO 20 KT WITH GUS

Watching For The Weekend.....
The above pic shows just how evil the weather can get in our neck of the woods at this time of the year...a big winter Noreaster can render you blind with driving snow coming down sideways and punish you with a NE wind against tide condition that will stack seas up to a point that you will become a religious man very quickly...ask me how I know this! Thankfully, I am a God fearing man and always keep our trips in prayer before departure...always a good thing to have the "Big

Hoping For A Break In This Nasty Weather Pattern & The Update....
Well we got slapped pretty good by mother nature Saturday night...love the white stuff, so beautiful coming down...but boy what a mess it makes!!! Took an hour to clear the stern this morning but thankfully, the wind subsided and the bright sunshine made it a pleasant experience. Winter in Galilee is a very special time...no tourist, no people and very, very quiet...all you really hear is the occasional "clinking" of the sole sailboat's hardware (down at the end of the dock)
